Should I use DieselKleen in a couple of tankfulls BEFORE I change my fuel filter in my newly-aquired '99PSD?? or afterwards?? I have no idea if anyone used it before or not, the truck just turned over 70k original miles. Thanks!
If you are not sure when it was last changed go ahead and replace that filter now. As far as the DK either way is fine but if you have a dirty filter and it breaks some crud free it could clog it and leave you walking a new filter may stop the crud and still be able to flow.
I've heard that DK can clean/loosen up crud in the tank and lines....then become clogged in the filter is this true....I'm new to the Diesel world.
yes it is possible for that to happen..bio will do it as well..but only if the tank has crud in it..my 99 tank was very clean..I use DK on every tank unless I run bio and never had a problem with filter plugging up..I would change filter now and run your DK..have a spare filter on hand (you should always have a spare filter any ways..never know when you might get bad fuel.) if the filter plugs up just change it out..
