Questions on coolant

It was brought to my attention that the orange coolant used in our diesels tends to clogged the EGR valves through the cylinder walls will erode them and eat through the head gasket. I was recommended to get the green one anyone heard of this situation thanks

Let me guess a "friend of a friend" said this ? There is no truth in it. Make sure you do check the coolant and add the correct ford additive.

VC-3-B Specialty Orange is the only coolant you should have in your 6.7L PSD.

Run your truck and tow with it.

Not so fast! My 2019 F-350 6.7L came with a supplement to the Capacities and Specifications listing a new coolant for the 2019's. It is Motorcraft Yellow, VC-13DL-G.

No additive strength checking or additives required. Scheduled Maintenance interval 200,000 miles (or ten years).

Wonders if users of the Orange coolant can do a flush and fill with the Yellow.

That's sure to cause some confusion even at a dealer but this seems like a change for the better.

No doubt. My dealer gave me their own "cheat sheet" of 6.7L diesel tips and they didn't even have the current coolant listed!

It's interesting because he had said that it was on the 6.0 . Was this an issue on those models like I said this is all new to me on the coolant situation I just broke 60,000 miles on my truck

Yes, the 6.0L has some problems with the EGR cooler plugging
The 6.7 got a new OAT (Organic Acid Technology) based coolant that has no Nitrates like the previous generation of coolants.

The new coolant has Carbolyxe ( how every you spell it) in it that coat the metal and prevent corrosion. Hence the need to periodically check your coolant and make sure the anti corrosion additives are still strong enough to protect the engine. You will see a "Check Coolant" message every 15,000 miles or so. Get your test strips out and check the coolant.

It's great to hear that the 19's have moved on to a newer version of the coolant.

As Just Strokin asked, Wonder if the new coolant can be used retroactively?

You don't want to run anything that is Silca or Nitrate based in the 6.7L engines.
You do want to run coolant that is OAT based.

The Old Green Coolant was run in the old 7.3L and early 6.0L engines.
The Yellow was in the later 6.0L and 6.4L engines. Both are Silca based.

Read or watch the below to get up to speed.
