hey yall

just purchased an early 99. have no history on it but it started right up with no fliud or nothing and wasnt smoking, i took oil cap off normal blowby. i took tube off to turbo. no dusting . problem is truck is missing bad and has no power. well i used my auto enginuity and did CCT got a bad #2. took valve cover off and sure enough no oil cominb out of spout. put another injector in. still missing. did CCT again. now getting a bad #6. sure enough #6 was hardly spitting oil out the spout. Put a #6 in. engine still running like **** and has the miss. Did CCT again. now getting cylinder 1,3& 5 balance fault. started doing a compression check but blew shader core out. i guess i was supposed to unplug injector while doing a running compression test.. truck definitely wasn't taken care of. I took solenoids off of 2 and 6 and the armature clearance was .003". can it be possible all these injectors are bad at once??? Why would injector be bad if solenoid is working and clearance is good?? well have to get another compression tester. did get to passenger side yet..

How many miles are on it? And I would expect all of the injectors to be in similar condition.

clock says 330k but transmission harness is chewed in half. so who know ?? glow plug relay isnt working but surprisingly sucker fires right up. So i guess i have to complete a compression test before i go any further.. does it matter if its running or not. I saw the diesel tech ron video where he said even if compression test looks good iengine can still have bad cylinder. he say to do a running compression test. i didnt unplug the injector and before it blew out the shrader valve i got 700psi in #4 .

The only thing I can think of that a running compression test might find that a cranking speed won't would be a broken valve spring.

With a wire harness bad elsewhere and symptoms that changed after working on it I would check wiring from IDM through the 42 pin connector to both UVCH's. Check both visually and with an ohm meter.

well the compression on drivers side really is good. 400+. all cylinders.I noticed it was running even worse. like barely idling. . fuel gauge was reading 3/4 full but suspicious that anyone keep truck in this condition would put 3/4 in.it. well fuel tank is bone dry!! i dont even know how it was running at all. i'd be a monkeys uncle if the sucker runs with no miss after putting fuel in.well i'll report back after i get some fuel in. the two bad injectors i removed i checked the clearance on armatures and it was good at .003" on both.

all the trans codes came up on AE because all the wires are severed but as far as engine only EBPV sensorp0470 and po478 ebpv pressure high. also i think the idiot light for oil pressure / engine coolant temperature is on. how can it be both??

is the transmission harness for gasser and diesel the same??? local pull it yard has few auto superduty truck but they are gassers. the clips for the transmission speed sensors look like a bitch to get off..
