They fit pretty much on their own. I just used the gasket that were on the old ones. Both my reverse light sockets were garbage. Went to a yard a coiple of days ago, they have about 10 old dents. All the sockets in them were either gone or junk. Took an old tail light housing and started pulling tail lights and reverse lights out and most of the ones I test fitted actually worked. Its an older yard, probably quit getting regular drop offs in the late 80s. Even then not much. Its Starks Wrecking in Germantown if anyone on here is familiar with it.
I went out and installed the sockets I picked up on Saturday. These came out of a late 90s S10 Blazer. Had power to both lights but the original sockets were so corroded they just fell apart.
Here is a side view of the socket. You can see the old one sitting there. Here it is installed. It fit right into the hole. Turned it and it clicked right into place. I even tried to double up the gasket...just in case...no go. Too much material would not even start to turn. I now have reverse lights. Probably not bright enough to actually use...lol....but at least anyone in the area knows I'm backing up now.
