turn signal sockets

Any body know where I can find a replacement turn signal socket? My 79 f100 has a stripped out socket, the bulb will not stay in. I am pretty sure the one I have is not original, its shorter in length than the drivers side. It works when I hold the bulb in, but after a few minutes of driving it works itself out. I have tried searching the internet and called the local napa parts store with no luck.

Appreciate any help and thanks in advance.

Front or rear? Salvage yards and some of the sponsors of this site have replacements.

I'm sure NAPA carries them as I have had to buy a couple there a few months ago. Just take the bulb in with you and ask for a generic socket for it. You'll have to crimp or solder it on yourself, but they work fine. Also take the signal shell to make sure it is the right one to fit.

Trust me, the counter guy/gal didn't look hard enough.

I picked up new turn signal sockets for the front signals for my '77 F350 at Discount Auto Parts. If I remember correctly they were $6.99 each. They now work perfectly! I just cut the old sockets off and used solderless butt connectors to attach the new ones.

Thanks, I'll try NAPA again, the guy did seem like he was trying to get me off the phone. Don't really blame him, probably gets lots of calls every day. I am not sure where any salvage yards are yet, but I will check the yellow pages, this truck is new to me and I will probably need to find one eventually.

Thanks again all....

If not NAPA, I got mine (reverse lights and brake lights) from Auto Zone for like $5.

Yea NAPA would have them, they are mostly universal, they have 3 tab's on them with one being a little bigger than the other 2
