Hey guys, I am new here but not new to online forums. I had a quick question about u-bolts. I am in the process of replacing the rear leaf springs on my 2000 excursion 5.4 2wd. I have the springs in and found out the, u bolts I had ordered were too long. I went to AutoZone real quick and found some 9/16 ones that fit fine, but I am concerned if they will be enough? They are grade 5 and torqued to 114 ft/lb (the specs were on the box they came in). I am in a time pinch and would need to have some next day aired in if these won't work and need to order them soon. Are the ones I have on, going to suffice or should I order the new ones? Thanks
If they are the same diameter they will be fine, you didn't say. Be aware there are square, half round, and round U-bolts. The round type are obviously different but make sure to replace like with like.
If there is a truck shop nearby they can make any kind and length you want on the spot while you wait, for not too much money. Bring in one of the old ones for comparison.

Yeah a commercial truck shop can make these if you have trouble buying them.
Sorry, the ones I took off where round, I thought they were 9/16 but I am beginning to believe they are 5/8 (After googling a little the rear axle u-bolts for excursions/f250s are supposedly 5/8s). I replaced all of them with the 9/16" x 3 5/8" ID and 10" L ones
I think you answered your own question, if Ford thought they could get away with 9/16" instead of 5/8" U-bolts they would have used them, but, they didn't.
