i have asked the suspion fourm this question and also different sites with minimal responses so i would like to know if there is a cheap and easy way to lower the front end of my truck?1980 F-150.the back i just plan to put the axel on top of the springs unstead of under neath it is there any reasons why that wont work? any help is appreciate thanks
That would work on the rear, but you have to weld on some new spring perches (about 25 bucks new) opposite the original ones, otherwise your axle will be upside down
The only right way to lower the front is with dropped I-beams, or dropped spindles. If you were to cut or replace the springs, it would throw your alignment out too far to be adjusted, which would negatively affect the handling of your truck. It also looks stupid with the top of the tires leaning in so far.
I think the max drop you can get from the spindles is 2" and possibly 2-3" from the I-beams, I have also heard them called "Dream beams". Go with what you can afford depending on how much drop you want. You can also get 2" lowering shackles for the rear, I paid $50 for a set of Bell tech shackles a few years ago. Grab a Sport Truck magazine, they have lots of add's for suspension mod's.
