Is there a Ford OEM drop-in for this? I saw an aftermarket one on YouTube that someone installed that was simple but the company shows it out of stock and has not yet emailed me if it's something they'll ever get in stock again.
I'd like to do it myself. I've done several over the years to my 89 Econolines which I did wire for wire, and my current 2000 Econoline with a Bulldog and 2 T-harnesses.
I like the idea of using the factory remotes to start it, but it's not a must, as I'm used to have 2 FOBs on all my keyrings as my Grand Am has remote start too.
I installed the ford 2 way remote start on my 2010 a few years ago when I purchased it, it does use a separate remote but i like the increased range and verification that it started. There is a thread on the forum that i had read when i purchased and installed mine.
the 2 way ford OEM kit p/n: AL1Z-19G364-A is what i used, it should be about 300 and has a much better range than the one way system. i bought it online from a ford dealership and installed it myself on my 2010 in maybe an hour and it works great.
just search remote start here in the forum there are several threads on them and installing them
