I had the dealer install the "Ford" brand remote start (made by code). It is OK, but I have a strange problem with it. If I unlock the vehicle with either the remote start fob or the factory fob, then start the vehicle with the key, the NAV radio will not power up for about thirty seconds. If I remote start the vehicle, then unlock the doors with the fob, everything works OK.
A friend of mine had the Ford "Gold" system (made by Code Alarm) installed on his '03 F-350 powerstroke. Had a bit of a problem with false alarms apparently triggered by the motion sensor feature of the system. Had to have the "brain" of the system replaced. All is now well.

Ive only installed a couple of the new generation remote starts on the late model Expeditions and they both exhibited the delay at startup for some reason, although its only 10 seconds on the ones I have done. I installed the earlier versions on the late model Expeditions until all supplies were exhausted for that reason and others. I just liked the older version better.
I had a Code Alarm system installed on my parent's Jeep Liberty. Same 10 second delay from the time you press the button to starter engagement. Must be a Code Alarm trait.

I'm not referring to a delay starting the vehicle. I'm not even starting the vehicle. just unlocking the doors with either fob and the NAV radio will not power up for about 30 seconds. The rest of the vehicle behaves fine.
On the new Expedition for whatever reason there was a 10 second delay for the radio, eatc climate control and some cluster functions to work after startup. On the one I recently installed on an Explorer Sport Track, the ABS light would remain lit during remote start and run, and would go out when the key was inserted and turned to the run position. This does not set an ABS code however. I think this may have to do with the late model clusters that have integrated accessory and battery saver relay. Not sure though. Never had any complain about it, I guess because they arent in the vehicle during the remote startup and warmup.

Has the dealer found a work around yet for this issue. I have the same problem...
