I'm looking to upgrade the original, tired 2bbl 302 in my 76 F100 to this new 302 roller crate motor from Ford Racing: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/f...xoC-L8QAvD_BwE
For now, my plan is to leave the old original 3 on the tree toploader and OEM bellhousing in place. It's my understanding, the crate motor is internally balanced, so i know I'll need a new 164 tooth neutral balance flywheel. I would like to upgrade the clutch to something more heavy duty. My question is, what clutch kits am I limited to? Do i have to buy something made specifically for my truck, or would an 11" clutch designed for a 5.0 Mustang or whatever work? I guess to make a long story short, is the clutch kit specific to the engine it's going on or to the bellhousing and shift fork arrangement that is behind it? If that makes any sense.
