removing the air pump?

So air pumps are expensive and I live in a state that my 1990 F250 460 motor is not checked for smog. Can I remove it??? what do I need to do. Anyone done this and did it work without all kind of codes or check engine lights. Thanks.

The air pump will come off easily. Remove the pump, and plumbing and you'll have to plug the gulp valve, a one way valve on the 1"tube that sits by the pcv valve and goes down to the cat. I also removed the plastic vacuum canisters that set on the rt fender well, taking note of the vacuum take offs and making sure the charcoal canister etc is still hooked up. Really cleans up the rt engine side, and you can actually see the spark plugs. I took off the aluminum bracket that holds the alt and the pump, and cut off the pump mount part, It helps clean it up, but not necessary. This is the belt you'll need: NAPA, for a Gates belt:: # 25 060470,
