Hi everybody, I was just wondering if anyone out there has bypassed (with shorter belt) or removed the A.I.R pump on their truck. Mine is worn out and has begun to make noise and is very anoying. I dont know much about them other than that it is somthing for emmisions. I have a 94 f-150 with a 351 and true duals and no cats.
If you have no cats, and are looking to remove the air pump, you can do so.
This all ties into the Thermactor Air system. That air pump puts air into the exhaust stream so that the cats can function. Since you don't have them, you don't need the air pump.
You can remove the thermactor system, but your computer may or may not throw a check engine light.
Look into how to remove the TAB/TAD solenoids if you wish, cause you can remove a some junk from the engine compartment by doing all this, if you wish that is.
well on my 96 which i put a 302HO into I removed the smog pump, AC pump, and belt tensioner. my belt is now 71.5 inches long. To change it I have to pull the pulley off the waterpump.
