Hello everyone I’m planning on deleting dpf and EGR block off plates soon. Also upgrading cold side intercooler pipe, I’m going with sinister on that. My question is how many of you upgraded the cold side pipe with a throttle valve delete? Is it worth doing? What’s the benefits? Will it work with my sb cai? If I go that route instead of an OEM upgrade pipe is there anything else I need to do (kinda like a snowball effect: if I do this then I gotta do that) Also going with Ez Lynk tuner with either PPEI or Tyrant tunes with SOTF should go with the Ez Lynk 1.0 or the newer 2.0? Sorry for the kinda long post. Appreciate any feedback.
So here’s my plan:
Ez Lynk tuner
SB CAI (already have)
Flo Pro 5” exhaust
No limit EGR block off plates
Sinister intercooler cold side pipe either with or without throttle valve delete
I did the throttle valve delete with mine, but it is not necessary. I actually ran with the stock CAC and valve in place still for the first couple weeks after I deleted and installed my S&B because they sent me the wrong CAC pipe. Made no noticeable difference when I swapped it out 2 weeks after the delete. Does it help? Not that I could tell from my butt dyno. Would I still do it again? Yes.
Nothing else needed that didn't come with my Rudy's CAC upgrade.
I don't think there is much difference between the EZ 1 & 2, but I could be wrong. Love my SOTF switch.
You've got a solid plan, just pick the tuner with the best trans tuning, I'm still not 100% satisfied with my shifting.
Thank you for replying. How dirty was your throttle valve and intake when you deleted and replace your CAC? I’ve got a little over 42,000 miles right now.
Pardon my ignorance, there’s a lot of discussion here on deleting, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of removing the throttle plate. I’ve questioned why it is there, I thought diesels should get all the air they can get. What’s the purpose, and pros/cons for its removal?

I’m not really sure either, other than like you said allowing as much air in as possible. I’ve seen some YT videos of gummed up throttle valves at 20,000 miles and could possibly get stuck closed when it’s supposed to open. I just figured since I’m deleting and replacing the CAC pipe that connects to the throttle plate might as well delete it so it’s not an issue later. Plus from Sinister Diesel they offer a CAC pipe with throttle delete pipe or OEM CAC pipe upgrade and still retain factory throttle, both kits are the same price but you got to run a tuner for the throttle delete kit if I’m not mistaken.
I have wondered why we have one as well but my limited understanding is it's only purpose is to assist with EGR operation. If it restricts clean air flow, then that forces more EGR. I don't know what parameters are in place within the PCM programming that chooses to fully open, close or partially close. Such as, is the PCM programmed to require more EGR at lower speeds and RPM's (city traffic) where it can get away with partially closing it's clean air supply vs towing 20k up the Rockies?
