I've a tailgate I picked up a while ago, that had the trim panel removed.. Panel is about a ft wide and the across the back of the tailgate. Polished alum with a Ford logo and red stripe. The back side is perfectly flat, except for the rivets that hold the plastic trim onto it. How is this bugger secured to the tailgate? There are 6 holes about 1/2 inch in diameter on the face of the tailgate, with a much smaller hole across from them on the inside. I'm puzzled. Thanks
There are some often broken, kind of hard to find plastic pieces that attach to the back of the trim panel and through those holes. Hang on I got a picture.
Thanks, that explains a lot, I'm assuming very hard to find. Filling the holes looks like the best option. I guess it'd be easier if I remembered to drop the tailgate when unhooking my goose trailer.......... Darn brain pharts!

I just sold a set of trim brackets on Ebay the other day
Where do the trim brackets break? Are they repairable? Im assuming the rounded tube screw portion pulls or cracks off. Wouldn't it be easy enough to attach and bolt through from the backside an entire new piece of tubing pvc or pex or something just to hold a screw? And or maybe put a sleeve over the broken piece?

They break because people don't know how to take them off and break them. Rare to find a set at the junkyard that aren't ruined. I'm sure something could be Macguyver'd together but probably easier to just keep your eyes peeled at the junkyard. I've got a spare set just not sure if I want to sell them. They're so rare to find in good shape I bought them to have a backup lol Also, kind of crazy how much stuff goes for online. I'm pretty sure I got all 3 at pull a part for $3.00. lol

I have a set of three broken ones I bought, not realized they were broken. I'll take pictures of them and you can make me an offer if you want them.
