So my buddy borrowed my van and took out my passenger side mirror with a mailbox. It popped out the mirror and plastic holder and broke one of the nubs off. I'm not sure if I can get just the plastic piece and mirror but for the price a whole assembly would seem easier. The problem is finding the passenger side with power. The ones on amazon are for '03-'06 but there are ones on there non-power that fit '92-'06. Is it just the power hookup that is different? I wouldn't mind a manual since I rarely move the mirrors but would prefer power if the price isn't through the roof. Any ideas on fitment and options? I looked on rockauto and amazon. I'm not a fan of ebay.
It has only three wires. The mirror is easy to remove/replace, but the connector is inside the door panel and requires a good bit of work. There is enough slack to cut and strip the original wires and cut the connector off the new one, then connect with butt splice connectors or whatever.
I broke one of the tabs on mine as well when taking out a broken mirror. When I put the new one in I put Goop on the plate where the tab should have been, and left it lay flat over night. It's been working fine for over 5 years.
look for them for my 2001 E350 i find them for f250 -350 but not the Van i was told f250-350 didnt work on the van i have only been a van owner 4 days ....lol
I bought this for my van. Was a stock style replacement. I was very satisfied with the quality and style. Not the tow style but those would be too wide for my comfort.
Thanks SPAZ(lol) thats what i have now want something bigger
F-Series will definitely not fit E-Series---door mounting areas are completely different. Beginning model year 2003 Ford did change the mirror mounting scheme from 3 bolts to 4 and with a bit of cobbling you can fit 2003> to 1992-2002 without a lot of trouble assuming you're handy with tools
Mirrors up to 2002 actually give a much better rear view than the 2003 and later versions like Sam's link provides---I have both styles and like the earlier versions. To my eye the earlier versions give a wider view. The "dual element" types absolutely suck as that lower convex part is pretty much worthless IMHO. I've fitted both my 2003 and 2005 with the single element type found from 2007 and later, those without the little fisheye portion in the upper outside corner.
I use an NAPA spot mirror p/n 704 that gives a very good of traffic behind and to the side.
The extendable towing mirrors for E-Series don't really give a much better rear view---they're pretty much the same size as the 2003 and later types. Their main advantage the ability to extend outward giving the driver a view around a trailer wider than the van body.
All this is INHO and based on a lot of experimentation while adding heating elements to the stock OEM mirrors--it doesn't hurt I'm in the auto/truck biz and have access to replacement mirror pieces, don't have to replace the whole assembly that way.
