I'm looking at the schematics and don't see any interaction between the GEM module and the reversing lamps.
where the reverse switch or the transmission range sensor is ?
Doesn't matter, can't cause the stated symptom.

Go into the fuse box under the dash and first pull fuse F8 Report what happens to the reversing lamps. Then, put the fuse back in and pull the reversing lamp relay and then report those results. See owner's manual for component locations.
