I have a 2000 F350 SD. Manual transmission. My reverse light fuse is blowing. Engine off, key out and in neutral position. Fuse blows instantly every time. I checked a few other post and read that there is a reversing switch on the transmission. But it didn't say if it was for a auto or manual transmission. I am going to check for that now. I feel that it would have to be between the fuse and this transmission switch. Reason would be that in neutral there would be no power going to the rear of the truck. any thoughts?
You're saying with the key out the fuse blows when switching from neutral to reverse?
Agree,
That doesn't sound right. You have short to ground. Which, also could be the momentary transmission reverse switch as well if it's FUBAR. There should be no power to the switch unless the key is on.
With the truck not running, key out of the ignition, and you replace the fuse, you're saying it blows immediately? That would lead me to the power side of the (+) side of the distribution module.
Ok, I did not do enough due diligence. I checked the fuses under dash till I found a blown one. did not check the position. #3 fuse was burnt, which is the cigarette lighter. don't smoke so never had a reason to check it. #28 is the reverse fuse, but it was good. Under hood 20A fuse was burnt out. replaced its and didn't blow. Also had one buldd burnt out.
Alls good now. Thanks for the help.
