good to hear! Do you have the tranny as well? What did the whole thing set you back with labor if you don’t mind my asking?
i couldn’t find anything on the Irate site under $1200...but if anybody has a link that would be great!
I have their transmission and the tru-cool cooler they offer. Paid $450 for labor and about $80 in fluid. Added up to just about $4200, ordered it on a Thursday and they had it built, dyno tested and shipped the next Monday. They really have their act together and the customer service is on point.
I've read in more than a few places about upgrading to a triple disc converter but keeping the stock input shaft being a bad idea...anybody have thoughts on this?
Just to wrap this thread for those who care or any future readers with similar TC concerns...
Re: my L99 4R100 with the noisy converter going on the last 45k mi
Trans was pulled and inspected, fluid was clean and in perfect shape, nothing in the pan or on the screen shop was confident there was still plenty of life in it and that the TC wasn't spewing its guts, backing it with free R&R labor if it fails in the next 2 years/24k mi...went ahead with a Recon/Transtar Billet triple disc converter that the shop recommended, 15-1700 stall and only $550, installed the 6.0 cooler and added a Derale...had ordered a JW Valvebody but decided to return...shop wouldn't warranty...Also had to have the rear redone if you'd followed any of those other threads, so it got a full rebuild with all new R&P, yukon overhaul kit and truetrac...killed the budget for having the shop do a tugger or anything else, but that's life...
I bet it drives a lot better with that low stall converter.
It drives so much better...I haven't pushed it much yet as I'm following the break in instructions for the new yukon R&P that was installed...but the quiet is amazing. I can actually pull up to a drive thru and order without turning off the truck...and let it idle a few minutes to warm up in my driveway without waking the baby! You can def. still tell its a 7.3, but I never realized how loud that TC was until it was gone...
