I'm hooking up some LED light bars on the side of my trailer. I cant seem to find an answer to my question. Any help would be appreciated.
If I'm pulling the DC voltage from my truck, can I ground the light bars to the trailer frame? Or should I run a 2nd wire back to the truck frame?
There is a ground wire that goes through the truck plug to the trailer so the trailer will be grounded. You can use the frame of the trailer for ground
The frame is ground. In fact, I’ve got two trailers in my driveway where all of the running lights only have a single wire running to them...
I do know in this setup that the body of the light acts as your ground. The light itself grounds to the trailer.
thanks for confirming what I thought. Now I just need to figure out where to run the wires. I'm not real excited to drill any holes. I think I found a route up the door jam and into the passenger side under the dash.
