P2002 Particulate filter fault

So yesterday the downpipe to the intercooler popped off and we ended up on the edge of the road waiting for a wrecker. it ended up a nice young man stopped and helped us out and went and got a clamp and we were able to make it to the campground across from the Ford dealer. This a.m. took the truck to the Ford dealer and they put on a new downpipe and the truck required Regen so they did that and got my truck back to me today.
We are traveling across and down Wyoming heading south and eventually will be in Arizona. On the way south on 25 my check engine light came on just outside Cheyenne Wyoming. We got off the Highway and stopped at an auto parts store who read the code and and it came up with a p2002 code. When we looked it up it again has to do with the diesel particulate filter. So my question is with tomorrow being Sunday and I do not have the model that you can force a Regen should I wait until Monday and get it to the Ford dealer again or do you think it is safe to drive?

Scott, his truck is a 2015

Bear,

No, your truck does not have the ability to do a manual/stationary regen unless you have FORScan on a laptop or a device such as a tuner or monitor like the EDGE CTS/CTS2. Not sure what will happen if you continue to drive. Not sure if it will clear or limit your power or shut you down nor if a manual/stationary regen will clear it.

You can attempt to drive it more and see what happens. Worst is it shuts you down or limits you and you have to be towed again. How far are you from the Ford dealer?

My guess Is a sensor or something is calculating the efficiency as below the threshold.

I agree with Larry, not sure if it would shut you down or maybe go into a drive to clean exhaust mode.

I might suggest an unloaded drive to see if it will regen and clear it.

We decided to take the safe path and stayed in Cheyenne and are going to take the truck to the Ford dealer in the morning. Because there's nothing more fun then sitting next to the road waiting for wrecker to arrive. Thanks for the advice 😀

On your F550? If you have sooty exhaust tips, my best guess is the filter is cracked (or a chunk is missing). At least the warranty will take care of it being a 2018. I'm sure that's your work vehicle so the downtime will hurt but better to get it in now than for it to fail while you're on the road.

They did not reflashed PCM after replacing the downpipe consequently the check engine light to come on. Computer reflashed and we're good to go so far. I agree with the previous post if you're having a problem get it in while it's under warranty the diesel particulate filter alone is 700 +

Its going in tommorow morning. I hate dealing with service advisors. It threw the code again this morning so it sits until the surgeon fixes it. Hopefully this isn't a reoccurring issue im going to have with this truck. i traded in my 350 dually lariat because i went through 2 sets of aluminum alloy wheels in 12000 miles. Im going to take the tsb with me but hopefully my DPF was manufactured on a monday morning by somebody who was just having a bad day......

I don't think a dealer does internal component repair on the SCR/DPF unit. That unit is $3,600 not including the EGT sensors or the labor to replace.

Im pretty sure that the dpf is a sealed catylst like a converter and must be baked or replaced.
