Okay, here's what I discovered today.
I was misreading the Glow Plug Control Module connector schematic. The colored printout that shows basically everything on it is correct for my truck as was pointed out earlier. You just have to pay closer attention to details then I was.
The picture shows the top view of the module and then just to the right of it what I thought were the connectors on the harness with the wires (colored lines) running from them. Not so! They are showing the pins on the module, not the plug-in connector so I was checking what I thought was #8 position on the plug but was actually #9.
So here I am with egg on my face!
Hoping my foul up will help someone else read it properly!
