Hi guys, well I got the interior done back in April, I have driven her to work every day since February, has 2100 miles on the clock now. I cruise at 40 MPH 2100 RPM. The road I take to work has a 40 MPH limit , I had a wide band O2 gauge in the cab for a couple of weeks and the air / fuel ratio is pretty good , Flathead has an Edelbrock 94 carb.
Regards.
I am loving this! Drive, drive and drive some more. Not everyone has seen the amazing work you have done on the exterior. We need more pics, even if just for review!
No worries GB, The motor still uses a bit of oil after 2000 miles but, is slowly using less and less..... I put her over the weigh bridge at the dump and the tare is 3 ton with half a tank of gas
and me in the cab. Regards.
Please stop posting pics of your truck- your making all the other trucks on here look really bad! Lol. I agree that "Wow" is the only word that covers it. That is a work of art.
You mentioned that it uses a little oil but is using less now. What do you attribute that to? My '41 uses oil also but it also appeared to me that it was doing better. But I figured I was imagining it because anything I've ever owned previously that burned oil never got any better without a rebuild.
Thanks for the kind comments guys, it's taken 20 years to get this together. Steve ,the engine uses / leaks 400ml of oil in 120 miles, there are no oil spots on the shed floor, but there are a few beads of oil on the bottom of the oil pan. The crankshaft, bearings, pistons, rings & sleeves are all NOS, I remember the date code on the box the rings were in ...May 1948 !! When I first started driving the truck to work she was using 950 ml in 120 miles ...... **** ! I thought...... anyway I had a look around on the net, come across a thread on Ford Barn ..... '' top the oil up and
drive on '' was the consensus, and sure enough as the miles roll by she's using less & less. To be honest, I don't care if the motor never stops using oil..... it runs nice & I like driving the truck.
Regards to all.
