ordered my 2018 w/o a front camera. want to add one. will a factory cam "plug and play" into the current system ? if so what will i need? if not, recommendations?
i do have rear cam, i upgraded the system to add navigation.
fyi... been told the 2018 grill is different than 2017, making it harder to add oem style cam

If you`re going the OEM route with the front camera, there`s more to it than just plug and play since the front OEM camera system is part of the 360-Degree System that`s only available on trim levels starting with the Lariat. I`m sure it can be done but, you`ll have to purchase all of the supporting parts of the 360-Degree System and you`ll also have to do some reprogramming via FORScan. With that being said, the only way I can see you adding a front camera to your vehicle and keeping the OEM rear camera, you`re going to have to go to the aftermarket via a new head unit with navigation or just use your phone for navigation via CarPlay or AA. Many aftermarket head units have provisions for a front and rear camera.
Another option in the aftermarket is a camera with its own small display or one that links to your phone.
I googled remote front view car camera and a bunch of options popped up...from wired to wireless...

That is what I was going to suggest. Install a separate head (where would you put that?) and you could switch in video from any number of sources. I have been contemplating installing a rear-view camera for our travel trailer, and something like that could also work for a front-view camera (or any view for that matter).
Swap out rearview mirror to one with display screen?
Yes but he`ll still need a way to get two different video outputs.
It would be nice but it`s just not as simple as plugging in the output of another camera.

the mirror would have it's own output he could just run a camera directly to it??

You`re forgetting that the OP wanted this to work with his stock head unit and he also wanted the front camera image to show on the same stock head unit but I do understand what you`re saying.
