You can't use a T , the reading will be useless. It needs to be pan mounted to get a legitimate reading.
Do they sell them?
Why not a T port on the line coming out of the tranny to the cooler? The fluid is hottest coming out of the tranny The reading is only measuring the temp. of the fluid at that point. Why would it be useless?

Because your tee will not have the sender in the flow of fluid, if you do get it in the flow of fluid you will restrict flow to the cooler. Reading trans temp out doesn't mean much, you want to monitor the entire trans from the fluid sump.
There is a port on the side of the trans. Use that to install the sender. This reading will be much more accurate than a reading in the pan. The pan is the coolest part of the transmission. You don't want to use that reading. The test port will show a better average transmission temperature.

Seems like I remember a plug screwed in to the driver's side of the tranny's case. That is prolly the test port. But I think it too small a diameter to mount a temp sensor.
