Oil leak

This is my first time posting to this site. I have a 2015 f250 6.2l V8 with 57,000 miles on it. I just purchased the truck a couple weeks ago. Before buying the truck I drove it twice, one time for about 45 minutes and another time for about 35 minutes. I stopped and checked periodically for leaks of any kind. I have put approx. 250 miles on the truck since owning it. A week ago I noticed a dime size spot under the truck, crawled under to take a look and the drop had come from between the oil pan and transmission. A week later I noticed another spot the same size. The front of the truck was sitting slightly higher both times when I noticed the spots on the driveway. I drive the truck 25 miles roundtrip to work and never noticed anything except these 2 times. Any input is appreciated on this matter. Is this a rear main seal leak? If so how critical is it that it is repaired immediately? Does anyone feel that this is something the seller may not have been aware of? It was purchased from a small local independent dealer that sells around 900 cars/trucks per year. Every person i know that has dealt with them has had nothing bad to say. Frustrated is an understatement to how I feel about this showing up this soon after buying the truck and also not seeing anything while looking at the truck before the purchase.

Take a close look at the drain plug, if it's leaking the air moving over the motor could be pushing it to the back of the pain and everywhere else back there.

I am no expert on what is covered by the manufacturer power train warranty, but it should still be valid for 3k more miles. I would at least call your local dealer and see if seals are covered by the power train warranty.

I would inspect the PCV components and breather and ensure that they are operating correctly

I agree with the others and also don't forget to check the stupid simple stuff. My wife's 2017 Explorer was dripping oil (two drops in two days) on the garage floor 4 months after we bought it. Upon a thorough inspection, I was able to hand tighten the oil filter a half turn more. No more drips.

In this case, it could very well be the PCV system or a potential right side valve cover issue. I recently purchased my '16 knowing that the passenger side valve cover can potentially lead to oil consumption. I've been checking my oil level and if it shows signs of consumption, I'll get it replaced with the new version.

'16's were not effected by the tsb on the possible defective baffle on the valve cover. I know this link says 2015-2016, but if you look at the build dates, that would be a mighty early '16 and 14's are definitely effected.

Motorcraft filters have been known to seep on these trucks for some reason. I know the bottom of my filters will always have some residue on them, but I've never noticed a drop of oil on the ground. I would probably do an oil change ASAP with 5w30 and clean every thing up good. Then if you find it still leaking, and think it's the rear main, get it in to the dealer under the drivetrain warranty. My understanding is anything internal is covered under the drivetrain warranty. And having to pull the motor or transmission is definitely considered internal.

I can't remember the month on mine, I think it's 12/15. So yeah, I was glad to see that as well.

After further inspection their is oil residue front of transmission. There has been no more drops as of yet on my driveway. I will get the oil changed and get it cleaned up good over the weekend and see how it goes from there. Thank you.

Any oil that gets under the truck is always spread to the rear because of the wind going down the road. My F150 was dripping like yours and after cleaning it up a found the drain plug leaking very slowly. New plug and gasket and it stopped, I thought it was coming from the pan gasket at first.
