Wish we could have outdoor cats or dogs. Our place is fully fenced, but that doesn't keep the foxes (cat is one of their favorite snacks), raccoons, bobcats, Coyotes, Rattlesnakes (lost a dog to them) and mountain lions out. We get scat on our front porch, back porch, driveway.... When we had dogs and outdoor cats, they were in the garage by dusk... Our nextdoor neighbor had a cat they couldn't keep in over night, and she would come over here. I heard her death screams one night around midnight, fox ate her.
Won't allow that to happen to one of my pets, so it is poison the rats and mice I'm afraid...
Can you leave your hood cracked? I've read sometimes that works but idk...
Yes, and often do just to keep the batts plugged in. Then I jacked it up even higher so I could try a full size Victor rat trap - they licked the peanut butter off the trap! So now it is even higher up so a zapper fits in there. No hits on the 4 zappers, 3 of which are in and around the truck, in 2 nights. I'm going to clean the droppings and see if I can tell if I've got activity and just no kills, or if moving the bait stations out worked. Of course the motor home is also gone for a week, and maybe that was "home" (gawd I hope not...).
Maybe they’ll prefer the new climate. Thanks for the ride......
I got down and watched underneath while Wife started it up, just to see if they were hiding up there. I prefer the "ride" I give them in the zappers I'm hoping the climate they go to is very, very warm...!
Start placing cat piles around the underside.
If you need extra I have a bunch with the new
kitten. I really need to quit calling him a kitten
at almost 6 months old. The other option is find
some slight tame feral cats to adopt for outside living.
All we've ever had were feral cats. The one from next door was also feral, was part of the problem keeping her in. If it were me and I had her, I would have made it comfy in the garage and lock her in anyway. I'll have to give the cat scat some thought -- it might bring the foxes in closer and they'd take care of the rats. Then I'd have to make the bait stations Fox-proof. I've also heard live traps can really work, and we do have one or two cat-sized ones and a 1 lb. kitten will trip those...
My last live trapping adventure ended with not getting the possum but instead two squirrels. Oh Boy
were they pissed off at me. I let them loose and got chittered at. I later did catch the possum. It had been
harassing the cats through the window for some time. We were happy to see it gone.
I need a pair of Mink slippers , the lambs wool are worn out,
i poped the hood on the tractor , I put a Copenhagen can size of bait on the engine, well no takers , I think the Moth ***** did the trick , it’s been out there all week, maybe ratatouille has a stomach ache or just wondered into the dead zone, hows the blend door going Scott?
Sorry about your rat troubles Scott. I found a nest under my air cleaner when I started working on my truck. Don't know what the nest was made from, looks like some kind of insulation. Hope they didn't chew any wires. I use glue boards in the house, then kill them with a bb gun (they're small mice).
