Right hand drive conversion

Hi truck fans, I'm over here in the UK and wish to change from Left hand drive to right hand drive on my 1947 flatbed According to the drawing the steering arms are inclusive to the stub axle so preventing changing them from side to side so I wonder if it has been done previously, to rotate the complete beam or maybe the stub axles . The intension is to include power steer in this conversion so will be looking for a power steer box that will fit or maybe going electric. At present electric power steer is mostly fitted to small passenger cars and I'm not to sure if they would be powerful enough. I have seen a kit available in the USA that uses a rack and pinion ,bolted directly to the beam unfortunately not available in a RHD version. I'm not sure if any of this is actually possible and wonder what information you experienced folks could offer.

I have every intension of retaining the axle beam and try to get the truck to handle using as many of the original parts as possible maybe installing anti roll bars and better shocks etc but need to tackle this issue before any other. Thank you all.

hi paul i can,t help you with that but you know we like pictures ! theres a guy in austrailia who built a nice truck. maybe he would know more about right hand steering.

Non too prety at the moment, it can only get better, hopefully!

G'day Paul, my '42 is 1 1/2 ton, tare weight is 3 ton. I think the steering components are different to a 1/2 ton. I have bought a few bits & pieces from this guy, Truck Parts mostly big trucks though . My truck was factory R/H drive. Here's a couple of photos of the set up.

Just thinking,,,,,,, google Hot Rod websites in Australia & New Zealand, maybe somebody has pulled the original front suspension out and fitted an IFS, the stub axles might be up for grabs....
