Ok, first off, I don't think I have ever had "turbo issues".
However, short of a major catastrophic failure, I have no idea exactly what a "turbo issue" would actually feel, sound, act like.
I suspect that I'm not the only one... I pretty much know this engine inside out, but it is my first diesel and everything that happens with it is a "first" for me.
So I'd like to be prepared so that my "first turbo issue" doesn't happen while I am traveling with the family and towing my 11,000 lbs travel trailer a few hundred miles from home.
Any helpful list of symptoms, diagnosis, and repairs would be helpful...
By 250k miles we were getting some consistent blue smoke. Boost wasn’t bad, but when inspecting the internals the impeller had more slop than it should and the K&N filter probably let more dust in than we expected.
Could probably have rebuilt with new bearings and seals, but new ones are reasonably priced and include a new vgt solenoid so we just swapped one in.
smoke went away and we went back to stock air cleaner
