The 7500 mile rule is what defines a vehicle as used in this state. There is plenty of F150 trucks in this state for sale that have 49 state emissions, they all are well above the 7500 mile mark. The Lithia auto group comes to mind as they bring in a serious amount of off lease Canadian trucks through the Manheim auction. My 2014 was 49 state and I purchased it from Texas Direct Auto on Ebay and had it delivered. Only thing I had to do was get a light inspection and certified weight slip and pay the state sales tax on the texas purchase price. https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/de...sts/outofstate and https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/de...t_facts/ffvr29

I still cannot register it if I'm the original owner who drove the vehicle for 7,500 miles in Nevada. I did not buy it used, I bought it new in Nevada. DMV knows I'm a California resident. Reading above, I wasn't clear. Sorry.

When I said I wanted check the sticker on the Ford Lobo, it is a new 2018 model, not a used Ford Lobo. Sorry for the confusion here, I want to buy a new Lobo. Since Ecoboosts here in the U.S. (even in Texas) are California-legal, I wanted to see about bringing in a Mexican Lobo to California.

Can't you claim exemption to DMV? Claim when you bought it it was to replace a vehicle that was substantially non repairable. Or get yourself a UPS store mailing address for 6 months and show residency and get a Nevada license and then "move back to California" afterwards. I have had so many vehicles I have purchased out of state new and used and have always found a way to get them registered here. It also is much easier to do at smaller more rural dmv offices who generally have more understanding employees.

I just recently purchased a truck that had 4k in back fees for cheap and all I did was submit the DMV affidavit and certified the vehicle was stored on private property and was never operated on a public street. The lady at the Redding dmv processed it and dropped all the fees and I paid transfer fee and placed it on non op.

I didn't want to bother with all that. I'm surprised you were able to get out of the $4k penalty, my friend regretfully bought a used car many years ago and he got hit wiith that. Tried to sue the previous owner in small claims but the previous owner declared bankruptcy. DMV absolutely would not budge. The car was eventually sold to a dealership in Nevada, new slate being in new state, but he lost money in the whole deal.

And it was two years of residency in Nevada before I could "move back" to California, I believe. I didn't look into that again, the 2015 is staying in Nevada. Nobody drives it, it's been in the garage for three years. I hope it still runs.

They gave us their best price. This car dealer is the biggest in Belgium and has the best prices. They also sell to France, Germany, the Netherlands,...
Another dealer had a black one, lobo lariat, and it was 2000€ more. In the Netherlands the same car was even more expensive! over 8000€ more.
I don't know what the price is for a new F150 platinum in the USA.... Probably less expensive...

Not really, very close in price. However, here in the US, that $68,000 truck could be negotiated more easily and possibly $12,000 or more could be taken off if the dealer was in the mood and all the rebates and factory incentives lined up.

So, I'm assuming that with your import fees and lack of inventory that you're stuck paying a higher price for something that we take for granted at a lower price.

In Mexico, the Lobo Lariat 4x4 is about $6,000 less than the U.S. because of a peso devaluation about three years ago and inflation is still catching up. Don't know how easy it is to negotiate for $$ off in Canada but it's not easy in Mexico, the cartels have been driving up the prices since they pay in cash and go for the nicest cars. I recently listened to a Mexican complain about trying to buy a Suburban and the dealership wouldn't budge. He said it was the same with the Ford Lobo 4x4.

As for bringing it to Belgium, it's $2,500 to bring it over and looking up the internet, it is 10% for the customs duty, and 21% sales tax (VAT).

Just got back from Mexico... the Lobo I saw had a sticker clearly saying "MADE FOR MEXICO ONLY" from the Ford factory. That was the XL model with the 3.3 motor. For some reason, neither the V-8 nor the EcoBoost had that. Price was 856,000 pesos for Lobo Lariat 4x4.

The new F-150 in the U.S. has the "F-150" in the bottom of the tailgate instead of the chrome emblem on the 2015-2017 models while the 2018 and 2019 Lobo still uses the "Lobo" emblem on the left side.

Under the hood of the 2018 Ford Lobo Lariat and Platinum, neither one had any mention of emissions anywhere under the hood. There goes the idea of registering in California.

Ha ha... I'm only 55 miles away from the international border. They have cars we don't get like the big Bronco with four doors called B-100 sold until 1987 or so. Some call it carrozada or CarryAll. Don't know why Americans never sold that, it had two doors on the right and one on the left because they didn't want to redesign the whole thing just to move the gas cap.

I thought it'd be cool to have a Ford Lobo though. Perhaps I could change the emblems on my truck. I know people who have done that.

Congratulations!
Yes, I know this problem. Here in Germany they tend to build them smaller and smaller. But I dont care. If I dont fit, I just leave a part of the car on the road

More and more, it's that way here in the states too. Driving to San Francisco is almost impossible.

I am already used to the parking inconvenience with the long bed, I'm only an hour away from Los Angeles and San Diego. I park at the very end of parking lots or on the street. Having F-150's since 2012, I don't have any dings on my doors. I'm THAT careful.

Not too different from what we do. Seems that "everyone else" always needs to find that perfect spot within 100' of the entrance to whatever, we just tend to go straight for the back of the parking lot. We find a spot quickly, and the extra 100 yards of walking is no big deal.
