I have to say the opposite of what a lot of guys are saying about washing frequently. I don't know what the weather is like where you're moving but here in Michigan it can get brutal. There is salt all over everything! I do not wash my vehicles until the temps start to go up to roughly 30+ degrees during the day. Salt likes to activate more when it's wet and generally a day or so after a heavy snow fall they have dumped so much salt on the roads everything is bone dry, cars included.
The days I find that I look out for the most is when the humidity is extremely high as the temps go up and everything is wet and there is fog everywhere from the snow melting. Those are the metal eating days! I wash the hell out of everything I have and try to get them out of the humidity as much as possible. So far this has worked very well for me. I have an 08 grand Cherokee that I bought in 09 and it's unbelievably clean. All of my other vehicles have been the same way. There's some rust that you just can't avoid living where they salt... no way around it but prolonging it is more simple as long as you know what to look out for.
I ordered my truck new in 99. I
I had the dealer rust proof the truck before I picked it up. I've used FF on it for half its life. its totally rust free and it looks as good as my 13 F150 that also gets FF. It really works well. It does hold dirt, but its the under side so who cares.Dirt washes off with moderate pressure like a car wash. If you looked under the truck it looks like its 6 months old. It has 107K.
