Badge removal

Now that my truck is 3 years old and completely out of warranty, not that that has anything to do with it, I'd like to remove the Texas Edition and Flex fuel badges from the tailgate. What's the best method without messing up the paint? FWIW it is tuxedo black. I removed some of the decals and badges from my old Sierra but I did that right after I bought it. They came off with just my hand and left nothing behind.

I pulled my badges after having the truck for about a week. Since I did it early, I didn't have any issue.

Since it has been 3 years, you might want to use a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive. Then, you can use fishing line to remove them.

Note!! Since your truck is 3 years old, the paint has weathered a bit...maybe even faded (ever so slightly). However, the paint under your badges will be pristine.
You might be able to see where the badges were mounted, depending on how weathered/scratched/faded your paint is in that area. It's just something to be aware of...

The badges come right off with a little heat from a hair dryer or heat gun.

A hair dryer and dental floss or use the dental floss by itself.

I debadged a 10 year old truck. Left a ghost image for many months but it eventually blended. If you take it to a detail shop (or DIY) for a polish and wax it will be much less noticeable since the oxidized paint is restored.

It shouldn’t be much of an issue, if any, on black.

We did it on my cousins black truck and you could see it at night when the lights hit it just right. A good cleaning and waxing and you can't tell,

You'll need some fishing line, hair dryer or heat gun (depending on your local temperature), gloves, Goo-Gone and probably some bug & tar remover.

If the badges have no body pins then you can just slice across behind them with the fishing line using a sawing motion. After the badge is off, dab on some Goo-Gone and begin scraping off the remaining adhesive with your thumbnail. Once it's all off then go over the area with Bug & tar remover to get rid of tackiness from the paint surface.

Use a little 3M scratch remover liquid polish on rag and you can blend any ghost issues you have. The truck is only 3 years old and it shouldn't be noticeable. Red always seems to show ghosting the worst.

like others, I have done older vehicles and not had any problems or issues except for red. Heat gun, fishing line or floss, a little goo be gone to clean up, polish and you're done. Heat gun is 6.99 at harbor freight.

I just removed some badges and bumper guards off of my truck. It wasn’t hard at all. I made a video, I’ll put a link for it.

GOOD LORD!! How badly was the paint scratched when you were done?
Heat gun/hairdryer to loosen the adhesive, plastic trim tool to pry up one end enough to get a grip. Apply heat as you go. 3M adhesive remover, wipe some on, let soak, apply some more, and wipe with microfiber cloth. Wax afterwards.

Wasn’t scratched at all. The fishing line doesn’t touch the paint it went through the middle of the tape and the credit card does seem like it would do some damage lol but Na it’s all good. I wanted to use the 3m eraser tool but I couldn’t find my drill so I just did it without.

Cool! I was going to get one of those wheels myself when I peeled my stickers off. I just don't trust myself with it though.
