After the last update that was released over week ago, which was nothing more than an enhancement to version 3.0, some people have reported that this fixed the problem you mentioned so you might want to give it a try if said update was sent to your Owner.Ford account.

The scanning feature of the SNYC 3 system while hooked up via WiFi can be hit or miss so the best thing to do is to check your account, if you`ve registered, on the Owner.Ford website for any available updates.

That`s more or less an issue with the app itself and the company who put out the app because they have not updated their app or apps to work with the new iOS update.

Remember, your iPhone must be plugged into the USB port to use Apple CarPlay and you must use an OEM or certified Apple USB cable.

Well this is not really possible, Waze as of today is not available through Car Play unless your on the Waze Beta team not to mention that no other maps other apple maps were available through CarPlay prior to ios12. If you mean that apps disappear from you phone after an update that's a completely different thing.

It would have to be better than the current version of waze outside of CarPlay. It freezes up half the time. I try to tap the screen and not buttons work. I’m using google maps on CarPlay now until a better option arises. I updated my phone yesterday and used google maps on our trip last night with the camper and it worked flawlessly. I really like the satellite view. If we need fuel we can find the gas station and zoom in and see how easy/difficult it may be.

Yes that is correct, CarPlay is Apples on dash screen interface making it look and operate the exact same no matter what vehicle you are in. All layout comes from your phone. Ford Sync came out with their own way to add Waze to the Sync display without using CarPlay

How do you tell if a cable is certified? My OEM cable stopped working a year or so ago, so I stopped at the first store I saw (Walgreens or CVS) and grabbed one at the counter because I liked the color (green). It works flawlessly in my F350.
