2008 F250 XLT 5.4L SC auto. I have an SRS light on. I have checked front crash sensor and both pretensioners for proper resistance. They seem fine. It would appear the issue is in the module itself. I get code U0151. If I pick up a used RCM module (same part number) will it work without reprogramming?
(I originally started this on the wrong forum. My apologies)
I tried another module with a slightly different part number. The code U0151 is gone and now I get a B2607 (Harness mismatch). My take on that is the pinout on the two modules is slightly different. The two modules are 8c34-14B321-ab (my original that gives the U0151 code) and 9c34-14b321-aa (the replacement that gives the B2607 code). Can the 9c34-14b321-aa be reprogrammed to match the 8c34-14b321-ab? The replacement module may not work but it does prove that my original module is the source of the U0151 code.
I has the same problem with the SRS module on my 2009 F150. Even if you find a replacement with the exact same part number it won’t work right unless you get it re-flashed to the specific vin of your truck. The SRS acts as a communication hub for several other systems including the stability control. If it not communicating correctly then you can get all kinds of crazy codes. You can have it flashed at the dealer but that is expensive. The other option is to send the unit to Airbag Systems. They are the only ones I have found the that have the Ford IDS software and can reset to your vin. As well as removing any crash code that you usually find on salvaged SRS units. Also if you know a local guru who has the software he should be able to do it as well. Either way it has to be flashed to be right.
Thanks Fmmurk. I will give them a try. I did contact one company and they said that unless the truck had been in an accident it would be unlikely they could do anything. And it has not been in any accidents. If they can repair mine or if they can sell me one that is programmed for my truck that would be great.
