A quick little reminder,....if in the future you plan on converting your wipers to electric and installing the passenger wiper if your truck didn't come with it. Save the extra passenger side plenum for the driver side, it will give you the clearance you need.
New bedsides dont have this piece and i didn't see it on the catalog. Looking for help to find the piece that appears to be sitting on top of the front crossmember. Appears to be a channel running down the inside of the bed.
Patches stitched on My good fenders
at what point do I say. New is better than trying to fix these.
Unless there is substantial rot that isn't seen in your pics, those are no-where close to a needing replacements. I'm assuming that there is a real person ultimately paying for the resto with real, earned money - and not some dopey 'reality' TV show budget.
If you have stupid money to spend, then I believe I'm your long-lost favorite nephew.
Those bed frame pieces are just what I need. Didn’t have a Midwest ford catalog. Will now.
I do have a budget. Not quite the reality show level. I will bring the fenders home from storage this week. I was there yesterday gathering some parts and snapped some pictures. Will get more, better pics this week. There is a bunch of work to be done to make them ready to go on the truck.
While I have a budget I also have a time frame. Need to get the truck back to my dad in a “hurry” so he can enjoy it and see the finished product.

Same here. The budget is about $200 a month...lol
And I too am not building a show winner, just something to enjoy and have some fun with, yet preserve some history at the same time. Something like that!
If you are in 'hurry-up' mode, consider focusing on the mechanicals. The body work could be done on a road worthy truck. It will also give you ability to listen to the truck in use.
The only exceptions on the body work would be the engine bay and the interior.
The money does add up. I just added up all my credit card debt last month and it came to $49,999 "ouch". John tried to warn me, but I got,(no more) the fever every time I view a catalog or website. Your fenders look very fixable to me and if I could do mine, I'm sure you could do yours too, they were a lot easier than I thought. Buy the way, your doing a great job bringing your truck back to life, its one piece at a time, enjoy the process you will get there.
I understand there should be wood under my steel floored bed. Does anyone have a link to what I'm supposed to use/ find/ create/ etc?
taking the truck this week with old bed and new bed pieces to a local shop for bed assembly. Naturally the bed will come off again for more.work and paint. Just planning ahead to be prepared when it's time to install for good
Hey Blick
I've got an early '50 - same bed as your's. Technically it came with a wood subfloor covered with a
flat metal floor. It looks a lot better with a nice wood bed floor... why not just go that route? Forget the
crazy metal floor thing.... You can get beautiful wood bed floors from a number of companies...
We got our's from Midwest Early Ford.
More update pictures. Set the bed back on today. Trans rebuilt My dad and his attention to detail and abilities at 80 amaze me. Have the front end ready to set next.
Is there a reference picture, diagram or person to tap into determining where and how to run wiring. Specifically, tank sender to dash harness, tail lights from dash harness.

There may be diagrams in the factory service manual, but I can tell you the gas tank wire goes across the bottom of the dash on the little shelf, over the passenger door and back down to the tank. Tail lights would be part of the big loom that goes through the firewall, then down along the frame to the back of the truck.
Progress??? I like the seat, didn’t realize how much space it took up inside the cab All three of my trucks have this heater and all are attached to the firewall in different ways. Eagle eye the interior trim piece by the window, drivers side. Made backwards, matches the passenger side. I think the material was put on the wrong side or am I supposed to install it upside down
