Either the fluid level is wrong or the internal filter isn't right, or isn't installed right.

There are two different filters. One was used from 2003 until mid year 2008. The second was from mid year 2008 until the end of production The wrong filter will cause big problems.

Another thought - what fluid did you use?

I would check you fluid level again. On level ground, transmission in normal operating range for temp, and cycle through all gears. The 5r110 has a 17.5 qt capacity, with roughly 8 qt in the pan. If you put 8 back in that doesn't mean it was the right level before. Did you change the cartridge filter next to the radiator?

It doesn't have the filter by the radiator I don't know if that makes a difference or not but mine is the 5R110w Torque shift

No, they don't. The later filter is quite a bit larger.

All of them are the 5R110W TorqShift.

Since you don't have the filter near the radiator you should have the larger, later filter. If you install the earlier filter it's going to cause problems.
