Seat Question

Hi All,

I am trying to solve a bit of a riddle, I have and 82'ish F250 with a bench seat and I was going to get a seat frame off a 9th gen f150 (92-96) and get some leather exploder or f150 seats. Then I noticed something, The bench seat in my truck is not original and there are other holes there that look like bucket seat holes. So the question is what am i looking for now? Will any 40/20/40 buckets work or what years will? Everyone is always converting to buckets but I can not find any info for the rare case where you have them. There are some nice seats leather seats out of a 2002 superduty on CL for cheap

Thanks if you have any insight

new bolt, you can see the original hole next to it on the driver side

Same here except you scan see the second mounting hold to the left just before the hump on the floor.

You need to take the carpet out and see what you have going on. Trucks with any type of legs in the middle had added re-enforcement in that area, while most trucks came with bench seats and are not designed to have extra holes drilled in the middle of the floor. The floor is thin in that area and is technically not designed for seats to be bolted down in that area unless it had a special option or someone took the extra metal out of a Bronco and added it in place.

You are correct sir, except the not used holes are factory and the Bench seat holes were drilled in. The middle legs and the outer legs have welded/threaded nuts and supports so I would rather use those. The question now becomes what will fit in that situation.

As i stated every post is how to convert from bench to buckets, not what bucket swaps work as a direct fit to a 1982. I gather from your post that bronco buckets fit, do all years Bronco? Later model f250 f350 etc?

It is my understanding from reading posts that broncos and extended cabs share mounting locations, regular cabs are different. I havent changed the bench in my 82 f100 regular cab yet though.

I put 1994 Bronco Bucket seats in my 1981 F100 and the seat tracks on the Bronco buckets would not even get close to lining up with the factory

Bench seat mounting holes. I got a seat pan from a mid 1990s F150 and it bolted to the factory mounting holes in my truck. I got the seat tracks

with the pan and they bolted to the Bronco buckets with just minor adjustments. The seats fit perfectly in my trucks along with the center console

from the Bronco. Only thing I really had to do was fabricate some mountings to mount the center seat belts.

So am I to understand that any bronco or super cab bucket seats will be a direct fit to my unused but original mounting holes? Or do I have something super goofy going on here?

I was looking at a 1981 Brochure, and captains chairs were only available on the supercab models. You say those extra holes are factory on your truck, but I would pull the carpet to be sure. It's not that hard for someone with a welder to add the require plates to a regular truck.
