Clutch Fan

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the clutch fan on a 6.7 PSD staying engaged at all times? Truck is new with only 2800 miles on it. It is bad enough that mileage has dropped 3-4 per gallon. It's at my dealer now, just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Was it the fan itself or something else?

FORScan should be able to see any DTC's related to the fan clutch, which is electronically controlled on a 6.7L. But the dealer should figure it out.

No there may not be a DTC. Mine didn't register one, anyway. The problem was in the clutch, specifically the speed sensor.

No codes thrown. Just noisy as all heck. Sounds like an air boat taking off and like its stuck in 4th gear on the highway. It's so loud, it drowns out the diesel engine noise.

In my case it was simple. They did the job in probably less than an hour.

Thanks. That's what I'm hoping for. I dropped it off for this and a few other issues--1 line in defrost not working and outer rear dually tire keeps losing 2-3 lbs a day. Little things. Still an AWESOME truck!!!

Over the last few months, mine has sounded like there might be an issue with it. Been thinking about taking it in to have it looked at, but wanted to wait until I had several issues to be looked at. So far, no go ... which is good, I guess.

Dealer called and said they need to replace the clutch assembly. Still waiting on part. Also, they replaced the 1 TPMS sensor that was leaking.

Replaced the entire clutch assembly on my truck with 500 miles on it! I wasn't happy with that. I haven't had an issue since though.

So we picked our truck up Friday afternoon. They fixed the defroster grid line without having to pull the window, replaced the TPMS sensor and touched up the spray in bed liner. The clutch fan problem was not the truck itself, it was due to a blockage caused by rodents!! This is at the top of the radiator shroud, below the top trim cover.
