Does anyone know how I would add the factory rear overload leaf spring to my 18 f250 that did not come with one? I like the ford set up better than most of the after market helper springs and would rather add the oem part instead of air bags. can it be purchased separately, with the brackets and bump stops?

I'm not sure about adding the overloads but you may look into getting a set of sumo springs put on the truck. They are like air bags but require no air and are maintenance free. I just had a set installed on my truck and love them. My overloads never touch the bumps now.

If you are referring to the upper single spring, Ford refers to it as an auxiliary spring. The helper spring is the thick one on the bottom of the main leaf pack.
Yes, you can add the entire oem auxillary spring setup. I did this to my 06 F250. Call up one of the sponsors of the site that is a Ford dealership and the parts department can identify all of the pieces. I recall it cost almost $500 for everything. Takes about half a day to put it all together.
Lastly, if you will be carrying a heavy load and routinely relying on the auxiliary springs to help significantly, you may want to add two leafs per side. I did this on my 06 F250. My 16 F350 already had auxillary springs, but I added a second leaf as well. I have a 4,500 lb Lance camper.
thank you for the replies, I did find the upper brackets, all 4 for $60 @ Tasca but have not had any luck yet finding the actual springs. I will check with fairway ford tomorrow.
The F-350 will be a different axle I believe. Just adding springs may not be enough to improve your load capacity, but it's probably a step in the right direction.
I would look at a parts diagram from an F-350 and figure out what's involved. The parts diagram should give you everything you need.
