Ok so I'm a little bit at a loss, I had a P0672 code for glow plug #2 circuit a while back. I finally got around to changing the plugs and harness yesterday. Cleared the code and it kept coming back. Finally cleared and stayed off last night but then came back this morning. I did not Ohm out the old harness and plugs before replacing as it was my understanding that if it was the GP controller it would throw a code specific to that? Anyway, I guess my next step is to Ohm out the glow plug circuits at the controller to rule those out? If so then it will probably be the controller?
Also, since that CEL was on, I didn't notice that at some point I got a P0488 for EGR throttle position control range/performance. The EGR cooler is deleted on my truck but the rest of the system is intact but I am running the SCT X4 tuning with the EGR off. I kept trying to clear the code last night and wasn't able to until I de-tuned the truck, re-tuned the truck and cleared it in the programming process. But like the glow plug code, it too came back this morning. The build date on my Ex is 08/04 even though it was sold as an 05. Upon inspection, I found that I have the 04 intake elbow and still have a EGR throttle body in the intake. So.......I'm trying to figure out what to do at this point. Can I just unplug it? I thought that with the EGR tuned to off it shouldn't be looking for the throttle position either? If I can just unplug it I am tempted to put in a true 05+ intake elbow.
Any insight into this?
We had 3 glow plug codes on our 6.0. Tested per Diesel tech Ron video. Only two were out of spec. All on the passenger side so just put 4 new GPs and harness on that side.
After clearing codes, one kept coming back. Found a used GPCM, installed it, cleared codes and all was good.
I read somewhere the 05 were different tps than 03/04 , my 04 had oil in the connection , once I cleaned it with contact cleaner the DTC went away , my Tps Sensor I took out T-20 anti tamper Torq bit , and cleaned it up too , although are Codes are different I went ahead and bought a New Tps Sensor , it comes in Monday .

My issue is that the ‘05 was not supposed to have a EGRVThrottle body but being that mine has an ‘04 build date I need to see if mine is the version with it without the throttle plate. I’m probably going to start with cleaning the sensor and see what that does. I’d really like to just tune it out and remove it completely.
I am going to check the resistance on all the glow plugs and if it checks out then I can only assume the GPCM is bad.
So I pulled the TPS off of the EGR throttle body and cleaned it with MAF Sensor cleaner. It had quite a bit of oil in it. Cleared code and so far so good.
My throttle body doesn’t have a butterfly plate in it, not sure if someone took it out or if Ford never put it in. It has the plate shaft but no plate.......I plan on a true ‘05+ intake horn and having the throttle body crap tuned out....
I checked the resistance on the glow plug circuit from the glow plug controller end of the harness. I got exactly 0.7 ohms on all 8 glow plugs so I’m fairly certain I can rule out the new plugs and harnesses I just installed. So I ordered a new controller and hope that solves the issue. I still have the P0672 code.

sweet, mine had oil in it too and in the connection , no other codes came up as far as TPS ?
Not as of yet. It’s my wife’s daily so I’ll have to double check when I get home. I drove it for a while after I cleaned it all and it was good the entire time. For me, without the butterfly plate, it’s more of an annoyance. My EGR system is supposed to be off anyway, I just hate having to stare at the MIL when there isn’t a true issue going on.....

Ok dragging up my old thread. The DTC for the TPS came back. Not sure if the sensor is just bad overall or what. Don't really want to spend the money to replace a useless sensor so what is my other option? If I have FORScan and the adapter, could I flash the updated calibration to my PCM and be done? My only concern is that being this is the newest model Excursion made, would there be anything different in the newer calibration from an F-250/350 that would give me issues?
Yes it’s the same DTC. I’m wondering if it is actually the TP sensor or maybe something with the turbo? Only reason I say that is because last year I had low boost issues with the vanes sticking. I needed to pull the turbo apart and clean it but never did have time. I was going to wait until I pull it down for studs and stuff because I haven’t had any turbo codes in a while. I will drive it kinda hard to get the vanes to move and I think that has helped....
