Hey guys several topics here-hope someone can help: (2018 350 4x4 diesel)
1) My DTE is at 10 miles -to fill my 34 gallon tank it takes 27 gallons- per design by Ford (unbelievable!)
Is the best fix- set tank to 40 gallons with Forscan? Does it do damage to fuel pump to run reserve down to 2-3 gallons?
What are the issues if this engine runs out of fuel? restart procedure?
2) I have added a 60 gallon gravity feed aux tank (works great w/up fitter switch)
I want to use aux tank for hauling gasoline for boat in Mexico. Quote from my Ford diesel service rep.. "two teaspoons of gas mixed with 60 gallons of diesel will damage my 6.7! True?
You do NOT want to run put of fuel as the pump is cooled by the diesel and they are ultra sensitive.
You also do not want to get any gas in the motor for reasons above. These are not your 90s diesels where they will run on anything. These are super high pressure fuel systems.

Unlikely. I've seen studies of blended gas and diesel. It increases wear but not at those levels. Still, it's not a great idea. I still wouldn't do it...
Ford does seem to go a bit overboard in the DTE department. My Ram was "empty" at 3 gallons left. That' would typically give 30 miles while towing, and I never had a problem with that. However, when I last got my SD to zero, I put 29 gallons in it.

My DTE was pretty dead on, only my first tank so not sure if it will continue. I filled up with ~100 mi to E, it took ~42 gallons of my 48 gallon tank. With my average of 16MPG it was pretty dead on.

Along that line, my lie-o-meter was off. Calculated MPG was consistently only 93% of what the meter was displaying. Thanks to FTE, the following post detailed how to adjust the rate at which your truck calculates MPG. My meter is now in agreement with my hand calculations. Plus, you do not need FORScan to make this change. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post18097223
