Starting to think it’s not the brakes.I’m hearing a growling noise.Today when going up some steep hills loaded the growling noise was more pronounced, so when I started the descent I put the truck in neutral and it coasted just fine with no noise.Put it back in gear and it started all over.
turn off your traction control and see if the noise disappears
Yesterday I went through the brakes and found the fronts real close to metal so I replaced them and bought a set for the rear. The rears still had a good amount left but I still replaced them.
i just checked the rear for bad bearings and didn’t find anything,so I moved in to the u joints.Looks like the seal on the transfer case is bad.Can this be the issue? Transfer case makes loud popping noises when 4x4 is engaged and disengaged.

Is the transfer case covered under the powertrain warranty? If so, have the dealer look at it...
