Have had a proublem with my 75F-1504X4 brakes. When I apply the brakes the drivers side wheel grabs and pulls me to the left hard. I just replaced the power boost, mast cyl, rotors, calipers, and shoes. The truck still brakes to the left. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I would check the brake line going to the right side. Check it from the splitter block on the axle all the way to the caliper. I have found many that were smashed flat from people wrapping a chain or strap around the axle housing. Also check the rubber line as they sometime get old and collapse on the inside restricting fluid flow.
i wouldn't think that the rubber lines would collapse but they would bulge out when you applied the brakes, you'd be surprised how little fluid it takes to squish the pads/shoes.
The lining in those rubber lines have been known to collapse and block the fluid. They also frequently act as a one-way valve and have been known to burn up brakes...
Red1 I'd like to hear what turned out to be wrong on your truck, I have the same problem on my '68 even after replacing master cylinder, brake cylinders, rubber lines, and shoes also had drums turned and replaced springs. All new suspension and all new steering linkage. It stops straight when braking normally but if you have to stop hard it will practically jump into the next lane and always to the left. I'm going to really look over those hard lines a smashed one is something I didn't think of.
Thanks for the advice on my brake proublem. It took me a little while to find a place that could order me a new set of brake lines but I finally got them in. I went ahead and put new brake lines on the left and right side and that did the trick. She stops hard and streight now. I also installed a new stearing stableizer and that cleared up the slop in my stearing.
I really do appreciate the input everyone gave me. By the time I am done I am going to have a brand new 75 F150 4X4. You can't beat them old trucks. One again thanks for the help.
