2012 F250 and the cab bushings have crumbled, really just disintegrated. I got a Body Mount Kit e/w Kevlar infused polyurethane from Daystar, but now I have a problem. I can't break the studs loose. There is no road salt, etc. used here in Mississippi, so there is no rust on the studs. So from you Ford guys, what is the normal way to break these bolts loose? I certainly do not want to break the captured nut loose on top of the mounting.
Ford uses thread lock on factory bolts but I've never had a problem breaking them loose with a 1/2" ratchet and I'm in the rust belt of south Jersey. Get a small hand torch and heat the bottom of the bolt under the cab to release the thread locker, wont hurt becasue the bushings are already shot
I am reporting back because I hate to see a question asked and answered and then never a followup. I followed SuperDutyScaler's advice and, after applying heat, was able to remove all of the bushing bolts with very little effort.
Again, Thank You for the quick and correct solution to my question.
I found that I had to heat each bolt head until they were sorta glowing before they broke loose and breaking all 8 bolts loose took about a half hour. Sadly my (75 year old) equilibrium had me coo-coo so I had to deliver the truck to a body shop friend who agreed to finish the job for me and actually replace the bushings. I hate it when my body can't cash the checks that my mindbutt writes.
The body shop guy finished the job and I am riding again. He said the he could only turn the studs a couple of turns before having to reheat which took some extra time and a second person with a torch was very helpful. He charged me $278 for his labor which I felt was very reasonable. Yes I gave him a tip.
