I carry a puny ABC with me, unsure if it would help in a situation like that or not.
Yes, we were OK. When I first opened the hood it was just a little fire behind the turbo. I thought, no problem and grabbed a handful of rugs and put it out. Puff, it started again so I grabbed two water jugs I had in the back for my water injection and poured it down there and it was put out again. Puff, and my wife yells at me to get the fire extinguisher and I said "what fire extinguisher?" She said the ONE IN THE CAMPER. Oh, the one I've walked by a thousand times by the door! lol. Grabed that and the same thing, got it out. Puff, started again and I was dumbfounded!! Seconds later a tow truck driver stopped and with his fire extinguisher he crawled under and put it out. Puff, started again and by then the fire department showed up. At that point all I could do was stand there and watch them drown that pour truck. The dash was melted etc etc. Insurance totaled it and I bought the OX. My good buddies here helped me transfer all my goodies over from the motor I had pulled and the John Woods trans was saved. Aaron, Todd, Thomas, JP, Nate, Lee, and Brian in one weekend pulled the OX motor and with both motors side by side transferred all the stuff. Nate hosted all this and he and his family were wonderful. This act of kindness saved me 4,400 mile round trip and a bunch of work to do in AZ where I spend winter.
