apparently they aren't made very well. I am about to go change the one on my '96. This time I am using an Autozone version, MR-99 from the IDI 7.3 - it costs $16.99, and I will post later how it works.

Make sure you are using the upgraded glow plug relay. It is a lot beefier than the one I had originally in my truck. The newer trucks probably already use them though. And keep your batteries charged. Lower charge on the batteries when starting the truck can cause problems. I have blown fuses associated with the glow plugs due to charged but not "fully" charged batteries. A battery tender is worth the investment.

FSC- where are you buying the glow plug relays? NAPA has one for about $16, part #GPR 109.
