47 1/2 ton

Is my half ton supposed to have an 11" clutch, I pulled it and that's what I found, will it work ok or should I go back to a smaller one

It probably started with a 10". All my big trucks with crash box 4 speeds use 11". I asked this question on fordbarn when I was doing my 1/2 ton woodie project and a surprising number of 1/2 tonners like the 11" just fine. Claim it isn't harder to depress. The hot rodders say it slows the acceleration as more mass must be put into rotation. I'm sure I would never notice that. But... I had a new 10" clutch kit in a box so I had the flywheel for an 11" clutch re-drilled to accept the 10" clutch. Imagine my surprise when I picked it up along with the machine shop's bill for 275.00. Given the choice with that price, I would have just used a good used 11" clutch I already had. Yes, your 11" clutch will work.
