After taking my tailgate off to load my camper when putting it back on I accidentally didn’t hook up the electrical before closing , it is now on / closed in the locked position and I cannot hook up electrical .....any way to release the locking mechanism?

my father in law had an issue with his tailgate not opening via remote. He opened the tailgate step and was able to put a coat hanger on locking mechanism from in there to manually release it. Sorry dont have any pics but if you dig around should find it.
I think about this all the time. It's really dumb that they didn't provide a manual release on the inside of the tailgate. Even electric car doors (like in a Lincoln) always have a manual door release for WHEN, not if, the door release doesn't work.

The idea is to reduce the number of tailgate thefts. An easy to access manual release would defeat the protocol that locks the tailgate with the doors (which I think is really smart).
