tailgate stuck

My tailgate handle seems to be broken, it lifts up but wont open tailgate. It just flops arround. How does this disassemble? I cannot get tailgate to open.

is it only broken on one side? if so u need to push in on the side thats broken at the same time you pull the lever out. this may take a couple of tries. i had the same problem

you can take the plate off the inside of the tailgat and open it manually. had a truck that i did this to for years.

Once you get that access panel off you'll see how to pull the latches in. Two nuts and the handles out, pretty easy job.

Took the panel off, found the chromed handle was broken on one side. Will need to replace it. Any idea where this part might be available from?

Almost any auto parts store as it is a fast moving part so most stock it look in the help section at the store.
