I recently purchased a 66 f100, have put new tie rods and springs and shocks, took it to the alignment shop. When i picked it up, the mechanic told me that he couldn't get the drivers bearing to tighten up. So i took it home, tore it down and it looked at first like someone had put plumbers strap in it to shim a bearing in...found out, someone had actually drilled out the hub and now the race wont fit in tight like it should. So i guess there are no replacement hubs @ the parts stores and nothing in the junk yards. So doing some searching i find that i can swap 73-79 discs with minimal fab, and again have found that in north central indiana...no trucks that old in the junkyards. So im on here now pleading for some help finding a decent scrap place to find older vehicles. Im willing to travel some. Any and i mean any help would be great. I work at a parts store myself and have asked all the old guys that come in looking to spruce up for the duck tails coming and they all tell me im in the wrong area for a Ford.
So you're still looking for a hub, or?? Should be able to locate them here, (or other truck sites) from someone who saved them after a disk upgrade, without too much trouble. Get two new cast drums and have the hubs pressed on and off by a good machine shop. Use new wheel studs. Need to have both sides of the axle on the same sheet of music.
Found an NOS hub/drum online a week or two ago, digging around for something else. Can't remember where, they don't sell online directly. Phone orders only. Not much help I know, but there are still some (very few) out there. Think it was down in Georgia or Alabama. Still a lot of parts out there that don't make it on any searchable inventory listing.
Either way...just ready to drive it...lol
i had a machine shop look at it and said he could fix what i have by welding and honing back out, but was talking like 250...i figure i can find something a bit cheaper. Even if i just replace the hub...im going to figure out a double res master cyl just to be safer

I would welcome a hub...either way is fine...i just want to drive it. And i will be putting a different master cyl in too, just to be safer

If you can't find one locally I've got the parts from my '66 that I took off. No idea what shipping would be though, a hub and drum is kind of heavy. I'm about a hour North of Phila PA.
Another non-OEM option that I found recently is Classic Performance Products now sells a disk brake conversion spindle for 65 and up. Before the purists pounce on me, yes they use calipers and rotors from a 71-72 Chevy C10 (according to the Q&A section on Summit Racing). I have found just the bare spindles on eBay, but can't seem to find that option on their site. I lost interest when I heard the C-word and it ain't cheap at $699, but if you are having trouble sourcing spindles, it might be an option.
Hey, i have the front end out of my 65 twin I-beam. I did the CV swap. I heard about hubs that are made to the drums?? Mine has hubs and drums as a 2 piece unit, the studs lock the drum into place, the press into the drum. I knocked out the studs and the drum pops right off the hub no problem. If this is the type you need just PM me an address, or phone to text and I will send you a hub. I only kept the original front end as I couldn't see tossing it in the scrap heap. I'm sure this stuff is getting hard to find for those who chose to stay original. I have been building my truck with scrap yard parts to upgrade things like power brake boosters and anything else I can get to upgrade the old girl. I am in SC and haven't seen a lot of old trucks in any yard i have been in here. I have been robbing parts off 90's trucks and newer. My brake booster is off a 98 f150. 5 spd tranny from an 01 ,etc.
If you want me to send you a hub just let me know. I have to go to UPS store tomorrow so I can send it out then. If it is what you need just send me back shipping costs. I just hate to have to junk this stuff. If it helps you out I will send you one.
I work nights so if i don't reply for a while it is due to working for the man. lol I will check here after I get home around midnight.
Dave: If you want to do the whole disc brake swap, have a look on craigslist or other online classifieds. I would be surprised if there there are no donor candidates on there

Yes please, dont know how to pm....text me 765-3nine3-6nine77 and yes 2 pieces...im getting excited again...might get it back on the road!!
I wasn't sure about the 1 piece idea. I read it in a forum somewhere and when I took mine apart it didn't make sense to me to have the drum be part of the hub. I find it funny that Ford would only sell it as 1 assembly. They must have made too many of them at the time so it was the best way to unload inventory. lol
