Yes I had to download a driver. On the instructions that came with mine, it said to go to: Shenzhen Black Butterfly Technology Co., Ltd (which is what I did - just checked and you need to go to the download tab, and the drivers are there) and elsewhere it gives direct link: Download|Shenzhen Black Butterfly Technology Co., Ltd

And you will also need to download Forscan as well. Forscan found the Com that the device was plugged into and it was pretty easy after that (ignore all the manual instructions for setting it up). For your late model truck, if you want to get into some areas of enabling or disabling displays, or devices you'll also need to get a temporary developers license off the Forscan site -- on my friend's F150, we disabled the door chime, enabled display of trans temp, and enabled the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller - that he bought for like $90 and is a factory ford part! I followed directions I got up in the F150 forum, but my bet is the Superduty guys are doing the same things.

Good luck!
Scott

QUINCE: Here were my own set of written directions for getting into enabling and disabling stuff -- it likely is the same for your late model truck:

Need to load drivers for OBDII cable and get Developers License for Forscan. Forscan pretty much prompts you through most of the below, but did have to play with the OBDII switch setting at first (see below):

Connect cable to Truck and PC, run Forscan Only and Key On Engine Off on Truck
Under Chip Icon
Select IPC Module Configuration (blank)
Hit Play symbol
Select Trailer Brake Control Module
click on Edit Selected box
Select Enable
Hit OK
Click on Write box
Say Yes when prompted do you want to do this?

Should tell you to cycle key off and then on again.
Select OK and Done.

Then Do Same for Trailer Brake Controller Gain Setting.

(and we did the same for anything else we changed).

After all done Hit Stop.

For the switch: it is like in the VINT picture - Low/Medium speed bus is switch away from cable, High Speed bus is towards cable...

My Bad

Thank you Scott. Got the driver and downloaded software, ran today the tests that showed-up by default and I didn’t get anything that could explain the problem. I may need to look for a manual for this FORScan in case there are more tests available. I didn’t get the developer license yet, not sure it will help at this stage. The injector test was done with the engine off, I could hear the “clicks” and apparently they are all good. With the engine running the individual cylinder test show no miss. Maybe I should repeat that with a cold engine. I did get a few codes about cruise control and one about parking brake. I don’t have cruise control and the brake came out 2 years ago since it was rusted down to nothing; I just leave the car in gear when parked. Thinking to install the blue spring even so my reader shows IPR from 21 to 56 or so and ICP from 550 to over 2000. I am also planning to run the tank close to empty in case last fill-up was from the bottom of the gas station tank and, if the weather will cooperate one weekend I would try and do a good clean-up and antiseize my 11 year old turbo. Still frustrating. Need to solve this before spring when I will take my RV to Michigan.

I was trying to make sure you got something for both trucks like you had asked for. Do the bluespring and clean the turbo, yep and yep. Personally, I don't run anything we drive below a quarter tank -- if you are concerned about bad fuel or water, etc. - change both fuel filters, or at a minimum, try draining the HFCM a bit and see if water is in there (the water-in-fuel warning isn't all that reliable). btw: ICP should go well north of 2k under hard throttle...
